The Betta SE Plus robotic pool skimmer is designed specifically for automated surface cleaning, targeting floating debris that typically accumulates on the top layer of pool water. Unlike traditional robotic pool cleaners that operate on the pool floor, this unit focuses entirely on skimming the surface to capture leaves, dust, pollen, insects, and other floating particles before they sink.
Its primary power source is solar energy, allowing the device to operate continuously throughout the day while charging from sunlight. Under normal conditions, the system can maintain operation for more than 30 hours thanks to its integrated battery and energy-efficient Aqua Dynamics design. When sunlight is limited due to cloudy weather or extended shade, an optional adapter charging option provides a backup method to recharge the unit and maintain cleaning performance.
Navigation across the pool surface is supported by ultrasonic radar sensors that help detect walls and obstacles. This allows the skimmer to adjust its direction automatically and maintain coverage across the entire water surface. A shallow-water safeguard design helps prevent the unit from getting stuck near steps or shallow entry points, improving reliability across different pool shapes and layouts.
The cleaning mechanism uses twin salt-chlorine tolerant motors designed to operate safely in pools that use saltwater chlorination systems. Debris is collected through a large fine-mesh basket with approximately 200-micron filtration, which captures both larger debris like leaves and smaller particles such as pollen or pet hair. The top-access basket simplifies debris removal during routine maintenance.
Additional usability features include a wireless remote control for adjusting operating modes and a UV-resistant exterior coating designed to withstand prolonged sun exposure.
